Gamingafterwork.com

I crafted a custom, dark-themed landing page for the gaming community GamingAfterWork. As a pro-bono passion project, I designed a visually immersive experience inspired by Copenhagen’s iconic Kappa Bar, using the Breakdance builder for a rapid yet polished launch. This site showcases my ability to deliver strategic, audience-focused design, even on fast-turnaround projects.

The case

Every great community needs a welcoming front door. GamingAfterWork, a vibrant community for working professionals who love to game, needed a simple but impactful landing page to showcase their mission and partners. For this project, I utilized Breakdance—a powerful, lightweight, and visual WordPress builder—to rapidly design and launch a stunning, professional website that perfectly captures their energetic spirit. This project highlights my ability to deliver high-quality, visually appealing results efficiently for startups and small businesses.

The Design

For the GamingAfterWork landing page, the goal was to instantly signal "this is for gamers." To achieve this, I moved beyond generic templates and crafted a custom dark-themed, immersive design.

The inspiration came directly from the local scene: the visual identity was strategically based on the iconic atmosphere of Kappa Bar, a renowned gaming bar in Copenhagen. This decision wasn't just about aesthetics; it was about tapping into a pre-existing sense of community and cool. By using a familiar visual language, the site immediately feels like a natural digital extension of the physical spaces where their target audience already gathers.

This approach ensured the website wasn't just visually striking, but also psychologically resonant, creating an instant connection with local gamers and making them feel right at home.

The Result

I see this project as a successful passion project—the kind you do for a friend to help a good community grow. I didn't charge for it, viewing it instead as a valuable opportunity to add a unique, design-focused piece to my portfolio.

Even though it was built efficiently with a visual editor, I didn't cut corners on the creative process. I dedicated significant time to ensuring the dark theme was cohesive and that every component—from the color palette to the typography—worked in harmony to create a true "gamer-ish" vibe. While the actual build was swift, the thinking process, the careful component selection, and the fine-tuning were where the real work happened. The result is a clean, focused, and visually engaging landing page that proves even "small" projects deserve a thoughtful design approach.
